The 15-Minute Weekly Bookkeeping Routine

Same day, same order, every week — the 15-minute habit that makes month-end a non-event.

The 15-Minute Weekly Bookkeeping Routine

Fifteen minutes a week beats five panicked hours at month-end. Here is the routine we teach every LedgerWise client: same day, same order, every week.

1. Capture (3 minutes)

Photograph or forward every receipt from the week into one folder. No sorting yet — just capture, so nothing lives in your pockets or inbox.

2. Categorise (5 minutes)

Open your ledger and assign each transaction a category. When a transaction repeats, your software should remember it — if you are typing the same vendor twice, make a rule.

3. Reconcile (4 minutes)

Match your ledger balance against your bank balance. A small gap usually means a missing receipt or a duplicate entry; chase it now while the week is fresh.

4. Glance forward (3 minutes)

Look at the next two weeks of bills. Anything bigger than usual? Move money early and the surprise never happens.

Do this on the same weekday — Friday works for most owners — and month-end becomes a non-event.
